3. The Chicago Water Tower
Built between 1867 and 1869, the Chicago Water Tower is one of the most famous landmarks in the city. Created as a functional water tower for Chicago’s municipal water system, it was one of the few buildings to survive the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.
