2. Ferdinand Cheval Palace

Joseph-Ferdinand Cheval, born in 1836 was a rural mail carrier in the Southeast of France. Over a period of 12 years he collected small limestone rocks on his route that sparked his interest. As an act of willpower, he and his wife worked for more than 9,000 days building this unique palace made out of the stones he collected. The completed building is 85 feet long and heights vary from 8 to 10 meters.
