6. The Old Mill of Vernon: France

Fifty miles outside of Paris, you’ll find plenty of houses nestled on the river Seine. Only one of them, however, comes prepared for floods: the Lucky Old Mill, which rises off of the remains of a stone bridge. Monet and van Gogh both found the house so moving that they created paintings of it.
