4. Check the background
You want all eyes on you, but a cluttered background can be distracting. Don’t take selfies in front of messy bathroom counters or mirrors that will reflect the rest of the room. Also, check for anyone else that might poke up in the background. If you can’t achieve a clear background, zoom in so that your face fills the frame.
