Since Scotland is so far north, it is easy to think that it might be covered in ice and snow for most of the year. In fact, Scotland has a wonderfully varied climate with some hauntingly beautiful sites. From Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh to Loch Lomond, the Orkney Islands, and even up into the Cairngorms, Scotland has an amazing variety of must-see locations.

While it would not count as a mountain in the Himalayas, Liathach is certainly worth a look. It is one of the best known of the Torridon Hills, a mountain range in the Northwest Highlands. It harks back to ancient times. And if you prefer, it may remind you of Disney’s “Brave.”
