4. Settlers on the Move
Not long after the discovery of exploitable minerals did the settlers to the Grand Canyon area realize the difficulties they would face in transporting ore from the canyon to the rim. It was also during this time that many artists, photographers and writers began using the Grand Canyon as subject matter, changing the way people looked at this incredible natural wonder. Due to the dangers of extracting the ore, many miners abandoned their claims to pursue and promote tourism to the area.
